Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Mediation?
Mediation is a means of resolving disputes outside of the judicial system by voluntary participation in negotiations structured by agreement of the parties and usually conducted under the guidance and supervision of a trained intermediary. (definition courtesy of Merriam-Webster)

How does Mediation work?
When two or more parties need help resolving a dispute, a Mediator can assist in negotiation by acting as a neutral sounding board. You’ll schedule a time and date with the Mediator to discuss both sides of the dispute and work towards finding an agreeable resolution without having to go to court.

Where can we meet?
Mediation can be done in-person, via video conference like Zoom, or hybrid where one party is in-person with the Mediator and the other party joins via online conference. Our Locations page lists all the cities and counties we can meet in-person.

Who are the Mediators?
The Mediators available through Mediation Coalition of Texas are trained and certified, run their own businesses, and have helped clients settle hundreds of disputes. Read more about each Mediator on our About page.

What is an “Impasse?”
Sometimes a dispute between two or more parties cannot find a resolution, and this could result in an impasse for the time being. We suggest to all parties involved to continue to discuss the issues and options beyond the mediation room, and several cases have reached a resolution at a later time.
